Meets Death Trying to Board Train

Jack Radovitch, a young man about 28, while attempting to board a freight train near Van Tassell on Sunday was dragged under the wheels and both legs were taken off near the hips. He attempted to catch hold twice and was unsuccessful and the third time according to eye-witnesses he caught hold, but the train had gained such momentum that he was dragged under the wheels and two cars passed over him severing one limb completely from the body and nearly severing the other. He was able to drag himself out from under the wheels.

He was brought to the Lusk hospital immediately by an engine and caboose and he survived the trip and lived for about an hour afterwards.

He was conscious and was able to give names and addresses of relatives to whom word was sent. Relatives reside in Rockford, Ill.

He was accompanied by two companions at the time of the accident but neither of them attempted to board the train.
