Former resident of Lusk, Lulu Lena (Peterson) Anderson, 94, passed away in her home at Federal Way, Wash. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.

Lulu was born in Gresham, Neb., to Johann Karl Rudolph Peterson and Ellen (Dye) Peterson on Nov. 11, 1916 and moved with her family to Wyoming some years later. Lulu graduated from Manville High school in 1934. She and her late husband, Carl J. Anderson were married in Lusk on May 5, 1938 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a printer at the Lusk Free Lance and Job Shop, back in the 30's and 40's before moving to Washington. The linotype in the Lusk museum was where he learned his profession. He met her on an election evening, running vote counts to the paper. Their first son, Kenneth was born at home in Lusk.

She has four children, Kenneth of Port Orchard, Wash., Robert (Kathy) of Hobart, Wash, Ruth Richardson and Arda (Robert) Wetzler both of Federal Way. She has 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Services will be Sunday July 24 at 3pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, Port Orchard, Wash. She was very much loved.

Lulu Lena Anderson, a former resident of Port Orchard, passed away Tuesday, July 19, in her home at Federal Way.

She was born in Gresham, Nebraska on November 12, 1916 to Johann Karl Rudolph and Ellen (Dey) Peterson, and was preceded in death by her husband Carl John Anderson, brothers Ralph, Lloyd, Lewis, and William, and an infant sister Ester, her daughter-in-law Gloria Anderson, and grandson John H. Anderson.

She is survived by her sister Ruth (Ron) Chitwood of Lebonon, Oregon, four children, Kenneth of Port Orchard, Robert (Kathy) of Hobart, Ruth Richardson, and Arda (Robert) Wetzler, both of Federal Way, her 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was a loved member of Bethany Lutheran Church for many years and services will be held there at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 24. Interment will be in Sunset Lane Cemetery, Port Orchard, at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25.
