Pastor David Shaner will officiate. Internment will follow at the Lusk Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Wyoming National Honor Guard.

Mr. Speerly died October 12, 2011 at the Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in Casper, Wyo., following surgery for a broken hip.

He was born May 25, 1925 to William and Marie Roesti Speerly in Lusk, Wyoming. He attended school at Node for 11 years and then graduated from the Lusk High School in 1943.

April 4, 1944 Ed enlisted in the United States Air Force taking his basic training at Scottfield, Ill. He was then stationed in China and India. He was a very skilled radio operator During his time of service Ed at one time was stationed on a remote mountain lookout by himself for a period of time. Most men could only take being by themselves for a short time and then a replacement would be assigned. At the end of Ed's tour there he asked to go again because he enjoyed being by himself. The wind and snow blew bad at this lookout but Ed remarked that after living around Node, he was used to that kind of weather.

June 25, 1946 he was honorably discharged after serving during WW II. Following his return from the service he ranched with his parents and sister Rose Marie at the original homestead ranch.

Ed enjoyed raising and working with both sheep and cattle. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and photography and snowmobiling which they had to do many times during the winters to go to Node to get their mail and groceries. Ed and Rose moved to Lusk in the fall of 2008. Ed read his Bible daily.

He was proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Rose, along with many long time friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center or to the VFW.
