Katherine Costlow Bixby
Katherine Costlow Bixby, retired Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Los Angeles and community volunteer, died Monday morning, June 8, 1992 at Glendale Adventist Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband, E. Rew Bixby; son Patrick W. Bixby; daughter, Jean Bixby; grandsons; Patrick W. Bixby Jr., Brian Elliott Bixby, and Michael Rew Hennessy.
Born in Lusk Wyo. on Feb. 8, 1920, she graduated from Doan College in Nebraska in 1941 and taught school in Lusk. She then came to Los Angeles in 1942, met and married E. Rew Bixby in May 1942. The family home is in Glendale.
At her request, there was no funeral. The family suggests to those who may desire to give gifts in memorandum, forward donations to Executive Service Corps of Southern California, 520 S. LaFayette Park Place, Suite 210, Los Angeles, Calif. 90057
