LYLE ROOT, 16, DIES AT HOSPITAL

Secretary of Junior Class at Lusk High School Succumbs to attack Sunday Afternoon

Lyle Delmar Root, 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Root of Lusk, passed away at the Lusk Hospital at 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, April 28th. The cause of his death was complications following the measles.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, May 2, from the Congregational Church, at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. George D. Jenkins officiating. Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery, the Peet Mortuary having charge of the arrangements. The funeral was held up as long as possible so Lyle's two sisters and their husbands could arrive from California.

Lyle Root was born n Lusk, on March 25, 1919. After residing here a few years he moved with his family to California, where they lived until this fall when they returned to Lusk. He was a member of the Junior Class of Lusk High, and was secretary of the class. The Junior Class attended the funeral in a body. He was a fine boy, a good student, and was universally popular with all Lusk High students, who will mourn his untimely death.

He is survived by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Root; two sisters, Mrs. Avis Stone of Inglewood, California; Mrs. Evelyn Stark of Hawthorne, California, and one brother, Fred Root, of Edgerton, Wyo. The brother and sisters came to Lusk to attend the services.

Pallbearers were John Erlewine, Forrest Kirby, Rex Umphenour, Billy Hassed, Bud Marcks and Willis Rice.
