A memorial service for Phillip Nickolai will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Pier Funeral Home in Lusk. Reverend Drew Duncan of St. Leo's Catholic Church and Pastor Tony Perry of Crossroads Ministries will conduct the service.

Philip Paul Nickolai's journey began on May 4, 1955 and ended Feb. 9, 2012.

Phil was born in Denver, Colorado. When he was 14 years old he moved to Kansas and worked on a dairy farm for two years. When he was 16 he decided to travel the United States and ended up in Maine and worked on a fishing boat. In 1973 he moved back to Denver, Colorado and started Nick's Home Improvements. Soon after that he had two children, Justin and Jasmin Nickolai.

In 1995 he met Deborah and married a year later. They decided to move to Waterford, Michigan where Phil continued the business, Nick's Home Improvements. In 2005 Phil and Deborah decided they wanted to live somewhere small, peaceful and beautiful and eventually buy a home. Phil took a job as a ranch hand and Deborah as a caretaker. They fell in love with Wyoming and decided to buy a home. In 2010 Phil and Deborah moved to Lusk. They purchased and remodeled an entire home together. The house is beautiful. Phil's passion in life was carpentry, art and his family. After moving to Lusk he continued with Nick's Home Improvements.

He was preceded in death by his father Elmer, and his grandmother Cristine Stevenson.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Deborah. Children; Justin Nickolai, Jasmine Caldwell and her husband Jake, Gretchen Brummond and her husband Scott and sons; Sam Rowe and Steven Rowe. Twelve grandchildren; Alexis Martinez, Andrew Brummond, Jaelyn Nickolai, Jaleah Nickolai, Jace Caldwell, Amanda Dickerson, Jackie Dickerson, Wallace Dickerson, Sam Rowe, Eric Rowe, Kathleen Rowe and Daniel Rowe. Great grandchildren; Tyler O'Gwen, Camren O'Gwen, Jacob Dickerson, Brandon Dickerson, Shawn Dickerson and Troy Dickerson. A memorial has been established to the family.
