William Bebb Baker

Funeral services for William Bebb Baker, 76, of Harrison, Neb. were held Monday, April 22, 1991 at the Harrison United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Booker officiating. Burial was in Belvidere Cemetery at Turin, Iowa.

Baker was born to Louise Walters and Bebb Nelson Baker on July 17, 1914, at Ruthven, Iowa.

In the early 1920's he moved to Harrison, Neb. with his parents and two sisters, Frances and Fern, where they lived for two years, returning to Iowa due to Louise's ill health. He graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa.

He met Maxine Zediker at Turin, Iowa and they were married in May of 1934. Three children were born to this union; Patricia Ann, Bill Dean and Bonnie Lynn.

The couple moved to Harrison in the spring of 1935. They returned to Castano, Iowa, in 1952, where they lived until 1962, when they returned to Harrison. In 1969, they moved to Mapleton, Iowa, where they ran the Arlington Hotel for three years. They then lived in California for five years where William worked as a carpenter with his son-in-law. They moved back to Harrison in 1977 where they resided until the present time. He farmed and ranched in Iowa and Nebraska.

He served on the school board and church board at Castano, Iowa, and was a member of the Harrison United Methodist Church at the time of his death. He served as chairman of the administrative board and was a member of the Village Board of Trustees for the Village of Harrison.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Maxine; three children, Patricia Ann Bansemer and her husband Kenneth, Bill D. Baker and his wife Charlene and Bonnie Lynn Baker; seven grandchildren, David, James. Sheri, and John Bansemer and Barbara, Michael and Neil Baker; three great-grandchildren, Kristi Leigh and twins, Kenton Donald and Chase Kenneth Bansemer; his sister Fern Patrick and her husband Arthur; sister-in-law Yvonne McDonald and brothers-in-law Arnold and George Zediker and many nieces nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Frances Mikkelson.
