Charles Rejda Is Victim Heart Attack

Charles Rejda, well known resident of this community and who had lived in Wyoming since 1915 was stricken last Thursday by a heart attack and later passed away at the Lusk hospital on Saturday, January 4, following another and more severe attack.

Mr. Rejda was working about his ranch 25 miles north of Lusk on the old Lusk-Lance Creek road when he suffered the first attack. He was brought to Lusk for medical attention at once and apparently recovered quite rapidly from the first attack and returned to his home. On Friday morning he suffered a more severe attack and was rushed to the hospital where he failed gradually until life passed early Saturday morning, January 4. Mrs. Rejda had been at the bedside of her mother who has been critically ill in Nebraska and was called back by his sudden illness and death.

Charles Rejda was born at Brainard, Nebraska, July 25, 1885, and passed away at Lusk, Wyoming, January 4, 1941, at the age of 55 years, five months and 10 days. When a young man he came west to pioneer in this state, settling in the vicinity of Jay Em. After residing in that community for 24 years, he and his wife moved to their present home about 25 miles north of Lusk two years ago, where he had continued his ranching and stockraising pursuits.

In 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Bushek, and to this union five children were born, all of whom survive, together with his widow. The children are: Mrs. Helen Baker, Mrs. Roze Clantz, and Miss Emma Rejda, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Gladys Kelly of Chadron, Nebr., and Charles, of Lusk, Wyo. One sister and two brothers are also left to mourn his passing. Mrs. Josie Vondra of San Antonio, Texas; Joe of Bruno, Nebr., and Jim of Omaha, Nebr. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Mortuary Chapel at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, January 7th, with Rev. A. I. Bernthal, pastor of the Lusk Lutheran Church in charge. During the chapel service a comforting hymn was sung by Mrs. P. J. Owens and Mrs. Leo Alexander, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. A. I. Bernthal, Interment was made in the Jay Em cemetery following the services at Lusk. Casket bearers were J. L. Vondra, J. M. Vondra, Otto Vondra, Ed Long, Howard Britton and Chas. Podolak.
