Catherine Francis (Foley) Brillhart

Catherine Francis Brillhart, 81, died July 30, 2012 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo. after a short fight with cancer.

Cathy was born August 16, 1930 to Hugh and Gertrude Foley of Hemingford, Nebraska while in route to the hospital in Alliance. Hugh wanted to name her Speed Queen. Cathy graduated from St. Agnes Catholic School. She married Eugene Rapp and 2 children were born from this union. On June 1, 1962 she married Norman T. Brillhart, and a daughter was born from this union. After moving to Lusk in the mid 1950's, Cathy waited tables to help make ends meet. She worked at the Northside Truck Stop, Southside Truck stop, Moon's Chat and Chew and the Outpost to name a few. In 1962 Cathy and Norm bought the Southside Cafe, which they operated until a fire in the kitchen closed the business in 1979. They had already purchased and were operating the Fireside Inn when the fire happened. The fire was extinguished late at night but Cathy made sure the Fireside was open for breakfast 6 hours after the fire. Cathy worked in food service for nearly sixty years.

Cathy was a very devout Catholic, and was a member of St. Leo's Parish. She was dedicated to her church family and volunteered in a variety of ways. She prayed the rosary many times daily and never missed Mass on Sunday or a Holy Day of obligation. Her greatest love after God was her family and friends.

Cathy's pastimes included praying, playing pinochle, and cooking. She made the most wonderful homemade pies, and people were always putting in their special requests. The late Jim Barrett even ordered custard pies to be delivered to him in Cheyenne, Wyo.

She is survived and sorely missed by her son-in-law Bill Dockery, son Ed Rapp and his wife Arlene, her daughter Lori Doyle and husband Jay all of Lusk. She has 7 granddaughters and 6 grandsons, and 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Gertie; two brothers, Edward and Dan; her husband Norm; and daughter Diane.

Rosary was recited at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Leo's on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, with interment in the Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, or to an organization of the donor's choice.

Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
