Captain Marvin White Killed Piloting a Super-Fortress
Captain Marvin Lloyd White, a former employee of the Argo Oil Corporation at Lance Creek, was killed in action over the Tinian on March 30. He was a B-29 pilot and assistant flight commander.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.P. White, live at Meriden.
Captain White enlisted in the Air Corps at Fort Francis E. Warren on November 3, 1941, took his training at Ontario, Calif., and Victorville, Calif., and was commissioned May 21, 1942.
After spending a year in the Canal Zone on patrol duty, White returned to Tucson, Arizona, as instructor with a B-24 squadron, and was transferred to a B-29 Super-Fortress Squadron at Clovis, New Mexico, in April, 1944.
A graduate of Meriden High School and Dodge City Junior College, Capt. White attended the University of Wyoming two years and was employed by the Argo when he enlisted.
Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Wilma, of Wichita, and two brothers, Harry O., of Moravia, Calif., and Corporal Glenn D., with the armed forces in Germany.
His parents were advised that he was buried at the air base from which he flew.
