William "Bill" Frank Hovis

Services for William Frank Hovis, 75, who died Feb. 15, 1987 at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell after a long illness, were held at the Lovell United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Rev. Earl Detwiler officiated. Burial was in the Lovell Cemetery with Masonic graveside services.

Mr. Hovis was born May 19, 1911 in Gibesonberg, OH, the son of James B. and Eva (McGee) Hovis. When he was five years old, the family moved to Wyoming. He attended schools in the Midwest.

On Feb. 15, 1930, he married Wilma L. Hoersch in Billings, MT. They traveled extensively while he worked in the Wyoming oil fields. They lived in Lance Creek from 1956-71, where he (was) an oil production supervisor and driller for Marathon Oil Co., until he retired.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed doing repair work and woodworking.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, William Frank Hovis Jr. of Casper and Daniel James Hovis of Evanston; two daughters, Gloria Lee Blackburn of Lovell and Michal Gene West of Casper; one sister, Harriett E. Donovan of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church of Lovell.

William Frank Hovis, 75, longtime Lovell resident, died Sunday evening, February 15, 1987 in the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell after a long illness. He was born May 19, 1911 in Gibsonburg, Ohio, the son of James B. and Eva McGee Hovis. He came to Wyoming with his parents when he was five years old. He attended school in Midwest, Wyoming. He married Wilma L. Hoersch on February 15, 1930 in Billings, Montana. They travelled extensively working in the oil fields of Wyoming. He was an oil production supervisor and driller for Marathon Oil Co. until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed doing repair work and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of Lovell; two sons, William Frank Hovis Jr. of Casper, Wyoming and Daniel James Hovis of Evanston, Wyoming; two daughters, Gloria Lee Blackburn of Lovell, Wyoming and Michal Gene West of Casper, Wyoming; one sister, Harriett E. Donovan of Denver, Colorado; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 18, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Lovell with Reverend Earl Detwiler officiating. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery.
