Mrs. Ben Brown Dies Monday After Long Illness

Mrs. Ellen Marie Brown, 50, wife of Ben F. Brown died at her home in Lusk on Monday evening, April 21.

Mrs. Brown was a highly respected resident of this community, and had suffered ill health for a number of years. She and her husband moved to Lusk from their Keeline ranch several months ago so that she might be near medical care.

Mrs. Brown was born in Illinois June 14, 1896 but the obituary has not been written as The Herald goes to Press, so will be published next week.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon, April 24 at 2:30 with the Rev. Lawrence Juell officiating.

Music will be furnished by Lavonne Pfeifer, Beryl Fullerton, C. W. Pfeifer, and Roy Elder, with Mrs. H. J. Templeton playing the organ.

The remains will be conducted to the Lusk cemetery by these friends: Floyd Bartos, Leo Heins, Fred Sheaman, Henry Stiles, C. A. Whelan and D. A. Shoopman.

Immediate relatives of her family who survive are her husband, two sons, Harry and Robert, and daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Slagter.

Chapel Crowded Beyond Capacity at Ellen Brown Rites

The high esteem with which Mrs. Ellen Brown, wife of Ben F. Brown, was held was evidenced by the many friends who attended the final rites held at the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon, April 24, at 2:30.

Rev. Lawrence P. Juell, pastor of the Congregational church, officiated at the service.

The songs, "This World Is Not My Home," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," were sung by a quartet composed of Roy Elder, G. L. Pfeifer, C. W. Pfeifer and Beryl Fullerton, accompanied by Mrs. H. J. Templeton.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery and the remains were carried to their final resting place by Floyd Bartos, Leo Heins, Fred Sheaman, Henry Stiles, C. A. Whelan and D. A. Shoopman.

Mrs. Brown died Monday, April 21 at the home of Mrs. Mae Kintigh who had been nursing her for the past several months.

Ellen Marie Dieckman was born June 14, 1896 at Arenzville, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Marie Dieckman. When six years of age she moved with her family to Fontanelle, Nebr. and five years later the family moved to Keeline, Wyo.

June 11, 1918 she married Ben F. Brown at Douglas and they became the parents of five children, two having preceded their mother in death. A daughter died in infancy and a son William Jennings passed away October 24, 1937 in young manhood.

Mrs. Brown was an active worker in the Congregational Church of Keeline and was a member of Mariposa Chapter of the Eastern Star of Manville and of the Rebekah Lodge of Lusk.

Besides her husband she is survived by her two sons, Robert A. and Harry E. Brown, both of Keeline; one daughter, Dorothy M. Slagter of Lance Creek; one sister, Minnie E. Crouse of Augusta, Kan.; two brothers, Fred H. Dieckman of Marshfield, Mo.; and William H. Dieckman of Augusta, Kan.
