Norman "Mac" J. MacDonald

Norman J. "Mac" MacDonald, 63, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, March 2, 1988 at a Grand Island hospital.

Services were held March 5 at Resurrection Catholic church. The Rev. Thomas Dillon officiated. Burial was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. MacDonald was born September 23, 1924, in Omaha, NE to James and Elsa Spaeth MacDonald. He was raised around the Trumbull and Hastings, NE areas where he was educated.

He married Lucille Petersen on June 26, 1948 at Hastings. He worked for KN Energy for more than 40 years. He worked and lived in the communities of Hastings, Broken Bow, Ravenna, Loup City, St. Edward, Creighton and Plainview, NE and Lusk, WY. They moved to Grand Island in May of 1987.

He recently retired due to ill health.

He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille of Grand Island; one son, John N. of Cedar Rapids, IA; one daughter, Mrs. James (Nancy) Van Kirk of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren; his mother, Elsa Coffman of Pueblo, CO; one step-sister, Dorothy Narmi of Council Bluffs, IA; three special cousins, Thomas Fagan, Fran Svec and Lula Mayszyk of California and Connie Averill of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, and a special aunt, Clara Fagan.

Memorials may be made to Resurrection Catholic church or to the Grand Isle Heritage Zoo.

Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
