They rode the train from Homer to Lusk. The only transportation to the school was an open, springless wagon pulled by a team of mules. After teaching one year, she married a local homesteader, Ray Brown on May 25, 1918, in Lusk. They set up housekeeping in a one room homesteader's shack. Mr. Brown was called to the service during World War I and Eunice continued teaching until his return. Seven children were born to this union. Eunice returned to teaching after the family was grown. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at the age of 65 from Black Hills State College. Eunice taught at the following rural and town schools: Cottonwood School near Laramie Peak; Meadowdale; Keeline Ranch near Newcastle; Shirley Rim; Hulett, Fort Laramie; and Gillette. She retired in the 1970s and moved to Guernsey to be closer to her family. Eunice was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Wyoming Education Association; she enjoyed sewing, gardening and writing.

Eunice is survived by four daughters, Joan Milnes, Josephine Haynes and Karen Ross all of Guernsey and Audrey Brown of Casper; two sons, Jim Brown of Torrington and Raymond Brown of Lusk; a sister, Merle Gill of Sioux City, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
