Graveside services for Gloria M. Duhs, 88, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wed., Dec. 17, 2014, at the Lusk Cemetery. Funeral services were held in Colorado.

Mrs. Duhs was born in Peoria, IL to Henry Champion Tippett and Mary L. Thompson Tippett on March 7, 1926. She was the only child until the age of 13, when her only brother, Gary, was born. She grew up loving music, dance, and swimming. Gloria was educated in the Peoria Public School System. She graduated high school in 1942 and enrolled at Bradley University in Peoria.

After one year of college, she married her husband, William L. Duhs. To this marriage came four children, Tom, Jeff, Laurie, and Barbara. They lived in Peoria until they moved to Littleton, CO in 1960. This union dissolved after 20 years. At this time, she entered the work force after being a stay at home mom. She worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of the Littleton School District. This led to her working for the Denver and Arapahoe County Court System as an Administrative Assistant.

When she retired, she decided to go back to college and graduated with an English Literature Degree from Metro State College in 1992 at the age of 66. She was extremely proud of this accomplishment. Education was very important to Gloria. She made sure her four children graduated from college with a Bachelor Degree. She instilled this in her grandchildren, as well. All 9 of them have earned their college degrees.

Mrs. Duhs loved to travel. She was an avid ballroom dancer. She was very active in Silver Sneakers, exercise classes, rode her bike daily until the last few years and played cards. Mrs. Duhs was a member of the South Suburban Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gary, and son, Jeff. She is survived by Tom Duhs of Colorado Springs, CO, Laurie (JD) Duhs Wasserburger of Lusk, WY, and Barbara (Pascal) Duhs Trompeau of Littleton, CO, and her grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the Niobrara County Senior Center in Lusk.

Pier Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.
