Thelma Maxine Nash

Services for Thelma M. Nash, 86, were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 1997, at the Colyer Funeral Home with Reverend H. W. Thiemann officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery with fraternal rite by the order of Eastern Star, Chapter #22. Memorials to the Goshen Care Link Building Fund would be appreciated. Thelma died at Goshen Care Center on September 16, 1997.

Thelma Maxine Roberts was born October 21, 1910, at Wagner, South Dakota. She was the youngest daughter of James W. and Lorraine (Emmons) Roberts. Her parents were homesteaders in the Burge community north of Torrington. She attended elementary school at Jay Em, Wyoming, and graduated from high school at Harrison, Nebraska. She attended Teacher's College at Greeley, Colorado and Chadron, Nebraska. Thelma started teaching school when she was eighteen and taught in Chalk Butte School in the Sheep Creek Community in Sioux County for many years.

She married Delphin D. Nash on May 25, 1935 in the Henry, Nebraska Methodist Church. Thelmas was past Nebraska State President of Methodist Women's Christian Service. Her activities included Eastern Star, Cow Belles, Lioness, and Joy Fellowship in Torrington. She was a tireless worker for family, friends and her community.

Survivors include one son, George, and wife Marcia of Torrington; granddaughter Lisa (Perry) Tuttle and great-grandson R. J. of Vashon, Washington; granddaughter Megan Mitchell and great-granddaughter Natawsha of Torrington; nieces Helen Wilson of Fort Laramie, Wyoming and special friend Connie Hort of Torrington; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, D. D.. Nash, her parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Viewing hours at The Colyer Funeral Home were on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the conclusion of the service.
