Funeral services for Marvin Dean Carpenter, 79, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Donnie Holt of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Dean Carpenter a longtime businessman in Douglas died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 near Lance Creek, Wyoming of natural causes.

Dean Carpenter was born April 26, 1936 in Mulberry Kansas the son of Marvin L. and Mary Erma (Claunch) Carpenter. He was raised and educated in western Kansas. He moved to Wyoming to work at the Exxon and Bear Creek Uranium Mines near Douglas. He owned and operated Clover Propane serving customers in Niobrara, Converse, and Platte counties and he also ranched east of Glendo.

He was married to Cleo Ann Cranmer on May 23, 1953 in Kansas.

Dean's day was not complete unless he did some socializing at a truck stop and he never met a stranger.

Dean is survived by his children, Jack (Nancy) Carpenter of Spokane, Washington, Tim Carpenter of Glenrock, Wyoming, Carol Biel of Wichita, Kansas, Mike Carpenter of Douglas, Connie (Edward) Sack of Douglas, and Cathy (Bret) Spracklen of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by his father, Marvin, on November 4, 2002; mother, Mary, on July 18, 2010; wife, Cleo, on August 10, 2012; son, Terry Carpenter, on February 23, 2015; brothers, Melvin Gene Carpenter, Donald Eugene Carpenter on April 26, 1970, and Larry Lee Carpenter on April 12, 1984; grandsons, Calvin Firnekas and Aaron Carpenter; and great granddaughter, Faith Firnekas.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jack Carpenter, Tim Carpenter, Mike Carpenter, Ed Sack, and Bret Spracklen.

A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated.

The Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
