Phoebe Hazel Barnes

Phoebe Hazel Shrader was born November 19, 1899 in Humboldt, Nebraska. She came to Wyoming with her father, five brothers and a sister in 1917. They took up a homestead on the Dry Creek Flats, near Bill, Wyoming.

In April of 1921 she married Ross E. Barnes and to this union was born one daughter. They lived on the Walker Creek ranch until 1941 when they moved to Douglas. In later years she and her husband enjoyed spending the winters in Flora, Arizona and Mexico, traveling by trailer.

Mr. Barnes preceded her in death April 21, 1964. She is survived by her daughter, Irene Wallis; and four grandchildren, Richard who is in the Navy and is stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station in California; Bonnie, who is attending St. Johns McNamara School of Nursing at Rapid City, S.D., and Robert A. and Matilda.

Mrs. Barnes was an active member in the Mt. Valley Lodge No. 15, Congregational Circle and Women of the Moose.
