Fred Diehl, 64, Lovell, was killed instantly about 1:30 p.m. Saturday about one mile north of the Wyoming-Montana state line, when the car he was driving crashed into a car driven by George Schneiter, owner of the Lake Hills Golf club and the Montana open golf champion.

Both Schneiter and his wife were killed in the crash.

Highway patrolman Warren Meade, Bridger, said the accident occurred in a rainstorm that cut visibility. The Diehl auto burst into flames and was burning when Meade arrived on the scene. Both vehicles were demolished.

He was born Apr. 7, 1900, in Newrlay, Pa., son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos S. Diehl. He was an oil driller and had lived in the Lovell area for 15 years.

Survivors include a son, Keith of Rome, Italy; two brothers, Robert of Toronto, Can., and A.J. of Huntington Park, Calif; two sisters, Miss Dorothy Diehl and Mrs. Helene MacFarland, both of Huntington Park, Calif.

Private funeral services were held in the Haskell Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and interment was in the Lovell Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom and Art Lennon, C.E. Roche, E.L. VandenBoom, Kamiel Wambeke and Paul Grosinger.
