A memorial service for Robert “Bob” Dale Holdbrook, 67, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, WY with Pastor Tom Strock officiating.

Bob passed away peacefully with his daughter Dorri by his side at Banner Health Community Hospital in Torrington, WY on August 3, 2016.

Bob was born on January 11, 1949 to John Albert and Edith (Miller) Holdbrook in Miles City, Montana. When Bob was only four, his father passed away. After his father's death, his mother married George Johnson. Bob's early years were spent on the family ranch near Miles City. When he was a young teen he went to live with his sister Nancy and brother-in-law Jess Robinson at the Robinson Ranch near Malta, MT. His years with Jess and Nancy were some of his best memories as a child.

In 1968 Bob enlisted in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1977 with many honors and medals. On October 16, 1970 he married Rhonda Sue Stephens and to this union were born two daughters, Kerry Kay and Leigh-Anne Dale. They later divorced.

After being discharged from the Army, Bob moved back to his home state, Montana where he met Rhonda Gunn, they were married July 24, 1983. Rhonda had two children from a previous marriage and Bob loved and raised Dusty Raymond and Darra Lynn as if they were his very own. The family later moved to a ranch north of Lusk, Wyoming, and shortly after their daughter Dorri Ann was born. During their time in Lusk, they started up a roofing business called, Double R Roofing. They moved around a bit in their early years, from Douglas, Rock Springs and then to Battle Mountain, NV where Bob worked at the Echo Bay Mine for a couple of years. The family missed living in Wyoming, and in 1990 they moved to Glenrock where Bob worked for the Glenrock Coal Mine for close to a decade. While in Glenrock, Bob and Rhonda started up a couple of businesses; Rolling Hills Building Supply and Rolling Hills Buildings. After the Glenrock Coal Mine shut down, the family moved back to Lusk, and Bob started working for the North Antelope Rochelle Mine. If he wasn't busy enough with the mine, he also owned a trucking business; Holdbrook & Son, which he operated with his son, Dusty. He was a talented carpenter; he and Rhonda bought and "flipped" several houses throughout the years. The couple later divorced in 2012.

In Bob's last years, he lived in Torrington with his girlfriend and caring companion, Diana Guest.

Bob was a man of many talents. If anything ever needed built or fixed, he knew how to do it. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, fixing up his Model A, playing horseshoes, and could play about any song you wanted to hear on his guitar. He was the kind of man to go out of his way to help others in need and was a friend to everyone he met. Most people will remember Bob for his great sense of humor. You could always tell when he was going to say something silly by seeing the smirk on his face and the twinkle in his eye.

Bob is survived by his children, Kerry Peete of Lewisburg, TN, Leigh-Anne (Tom) Lottridge of Madison, WI, Dusty (Kristi) Hart of Lusk, WY, Darra Hart of Newcastle, WY, and Dorri Holdbrook of Cat Spring, TX; sisters, Nancy (late Jess) Robinson of Zortman, MT and Carol (Steve) Wilcox of Sheridan, MT; sister-in-law Frances Holdbrook of Boyd, MT; Grandchildren Lainie Wright, Madison and Brennan Peete, Cherokeanne, Caysea and Cole Hart, Cody Cooley, Hattie Nelson and Daxx Gunn Hollmann; and girlfriend, Diana Guest.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John Willard Holdbrook and Ralph "Bud" Holdbrook.

Honorary pallbearers are Cole Hart, Cody Cooley, Daxx Gunn Hollmann, Bo Krein, Seth Holdbrook and Dwight Krein.

Memorials may be made to the family.
