W. Frank Cogdill, Former Manville Resident, Succumbs to Heart Attack While Enroute to a Family Reunion

W. Frank Cogdill, former resident of Manville, Wyo., now residing at Escondido, Calif., succumbed to a heart attack while enroute to a family reunion to be held at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Pfister of Lusk. He was accompanying a son, Bob Cogdill and daughter, Barbara, to Lusk and was stricken while traveling on a mountainous road near Lovell, Wyo, on Monday, July 25th. At the time of his demise, he had attained the age of 64 years, nine months and 15 days.

The remains were brought to Lusk where concluding services were held at two o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon from the chapel of the Peet Funeral home. Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Lusk, officiated at the rites. "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross," were sung as duets by Mrs. Ab DeCastro of this city, and Rev. Edward Poser of Manville. Mrs. Edward Poser furnished the organ accompaniment.

The remains will be shipped to the Palms Mortuary in San Diego, Calif., with graveside rites to be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Escondido, Calif.

William Frank Cogdill was born on October 10, 1890 in Nebraska City, Nebraska, a son of Robert William and Lucy Anna (Goodwine) Cogdill. The family soon thereafter, moved to Clyde, Missouri where he grew to manhood.

On March 25th, 1914 he married Iza Lucille Wilkerson in Marysville, MO. Four years later, in April 1918, the couple came to Wyoming and homesteaded south of Manville. They made their home in this community until May, 1939 when they moved to the west coast and spent the remainder of their lives.

He was enroute to Wyoming for a family reunion to have been held Wednesday, July 27, and even though his health had been failing for several years, his sudden death came as a distinct shock to his many relatives and friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Roy S. Cogdill of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Jesses R. Cogdill of Gerty, Okla; seven children, Mrs. Geraldine Alexander, Manville, Wyo.; Ivan Cogdill of Oak Harbor, Wash; Mrs. Maxine Amick of Billings, Mont.; Mrs. James Pfister of Lusk, Wyo.; Mrs. Shirley Cline of Worland, Wyo.; Bob Cogdill of San Diego, Calif.; and Donald Codgill of Temucula, Calif., and eleven grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his wife, Iza Lucille Cogdill, who died in 1946. His final resting place will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Escondido, Calif., beside the remains of his wife.

Frank Cogdill Dies While Enroute to Visit in Lusk

W. Frank Cogdill, 64, of Escondido, Cal., and formerly of Lusk, died suddenly of an aggravated heart condition Monday evening while enroute to Lusk with his son, Bob, and the latter's daughter, Barbara.

Mr. Cogdill, who was accompanying his son to a family reunion at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Pfister, died in the car soon after leaving Lovell. Leslie Huff of the Huff Flying Service accompanied by George Earl Peet, brought the remains to Lusk Tuesday afternoon.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Rev. Edward D. Poser will sing "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Mrs. Poser, organist. The remains will be shipped to Escondido where graveside services will be held.

Mr. Cogdill is well known in this vicinity, having lived near Manville from 1917 to 1939. In the latter year he and Mrs. Cogdill moved to the West coast, finally settling in Escondido. Mrs. Cogdill died in 1946.

He is survived by four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Floyd Alexander, Manville; Ivan Cogdill, Oak Harbor, Wash; Mrs. L.G. Amick, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. James Pfister, Lusk; Mrs. R. D. Cline, Worland; Bob F. Cogdill, San Diego, Cal.; and Donald Cogdill, Temucula, Cal.
