After an extended illness, Edith Eileen Rush, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, surrounded by family in Arizona.

She was born in Lusk, to Kermit and Ellen Brown on Nov. 29, 1931. Edith grew up on a farm in the Moore Springs area and attended a local country school with her six siblings. On March 14, 1950, she married her one and only Harold Richard Rush. Between 1950 and 1956 her family grew with the addition of five children. The family stayed in the Moore Springs area until 1958 when Richard's job as a core driller required extensive traveling, from Florida to Alaska and throughout the southwest. Edith will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving mother due to her ability to adapt to consistently changing environments while caring for her family. In 1964, her family returned to Wyoming and made their permanent home in Guernsey.

Edith was a lover of life. She never met a stranger, loved to laugh, and was always very generous. It didn't matter how big or small the occasion, she was always sending cards and small gifts. If you were in her thoughts she made sure to let you know. She had an adventurous heart and was always ready to go, whether it be a road trip or a walk around town. Edith was fond of all of God's creatures, especially baby chicks, kittens, calves, lambs, and most of all her grandbabies.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, June; her daughter, Ellen; and her son, Tom.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; her daughter, Mary (Pete) Martinez; her son, Billy Lynn (Lorna) Rush; her daughter, Eileen (Roger) Stoneking; nine grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Celebration of life will be held at the Faith Fellowship, 600 West Chugwater Street, Guernsey, Wyoming on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held in Hartville Cemetery near Hartville, Wyoming and afterward, a luncheon will be provided at the Faith Fellowship.

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
