Art was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Benkelman, Neb., the son of William and Abbie (Miller) Damrow. In 1914 they moved to a homestead northeast of Guernsey. At age 16 he went to work at Sunrise Iron Mine in Sunrise until 1930. In 1935 he went to Coos Bay, Ore., and worked in construction. He married Mae Criss in 1936 and returned to Wyoming in 1938 where he farmed and ranched with his parents until entering road construction. His son Vernon was born in 1939 and they bought land north of Torrington to farm and ranch. In 1949 he bought road equipment and started leveling land and continued with that until 1954 when he started road construction until 1960. He went back to farming and ranching until 1962 when he started farming potatoes until 1976. He also operated a large potato cellar. Later in life Art purchased several farms north of Torrington to develop the irrigation systems and then would resell them. In 1974 he sold the potato business and built a home in Torrington.
Mae died in 1968 and on July 10, 1970, he married Pauline Margaret “Pat” Rhea. Pat died in 2014.
Art was a 4-H livestock leader for several years. He served on the Gleaners Union Board, on the Hill Irrigation Board, and the Underground Water Advisory Board.
