The Dark of nite is gone; a Star has risen!

Elva David was born Feb. 3, 1896 near Broken Bow, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Minnie Rizor, who resided for many years in Lusk. She died Sept. 8, 1983 in Denver, Colo.

One Jan. 26, 1913, she was united in marriage to Claris A. David in Harrison, Nebr. They homesteaded 30 miles north of Lusk, living in a log cabin for their first few years. She was active in community clubs and church groups.

In 1967, due to the ill health of her husband, they sold the ranch and moved to Denver, Colo. She has resided there since, living in an apartment near all of her family who she enjoyed so much and who loved being near her.

She is survived by five children; Irma Palmer, Genevieve David, Florence Kavanaugh, James Richard David, and Shirley Geist, all of Denver; three sisters: Freda Story, Ft. Collins, Colo., Bernice Rizor, Iowa and Charlotte Groshgn, Scottsbluff, Nebr.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Virginia; two brothers and two sisters.

Services were held at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk Sept. 12, 1983 with Delbert Dick officiating. Music was provided bu Edna DeCastro, organist, and Mark Lohr, soloist, who sang The Old Rugged Cross and In the Garden.

Active Bearers were Richard David, Rick Cooley,Steven Geist, Junior Trujillo, Henry Wasserburger and James Wasserburger. Honorary Bearers were Thomas Geist, Gordon Seufert, Bob Ehlers, Horace Graham, Ed Boner, Leonard DeGering, John DeGering and Mike Baji. Interment was in Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials made be made to Niobrara County Nursing Home.

Arrangements were by Peet Mortuary.
