HENRY A JORDAN, 76, DIES FRIDAY

Henry A. Jordan, 76, passed away at the Lusk Hospital on Friday, Sept 15, after being in failing health for several months.

Mr. Jordan moved to Lusk from the Jay Em community about a year and a half ago and purchased the Thon property, across the street north of the Baptist church, and had lived alone there since that time.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Monday with Rev. Paul Hoover of the Gospel Hall officiating.

Mrs. H.J. Templeton sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer." Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist.

Burial was made in the Jay Em cemetery beside his wife, and the casket bearers were all old-time friends.

His brothers, John and Louis, from Knoxville, Iowa, were present for the services.

Henry August Jordan, son of Frederick and Henrietta Jordan, was born on March 14, 1868, in Marion County, Iowa. The greater part of his life was spent in Iowa and Missouri, and in 1916 he located on a homestead about eight miles west of Jay Em. In 1921 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Rebecca Isell of the neighborhood west of Jay Em. They were hardworking and thrifty people and lived on their farm until Mrs. Jordan's death in 1942. Mr. Jordan sold the farm and purchased a home in Lusk, where he has since resided.

Mr. Jordan is survived by three brothers, John, Louis, and Charlie, all from Knoxville, Iowa, and by three sisters, Mrs. Christine Bittenbender and Mrs. Ralph Kelly, also of Knoxville, and Mrs. Emma Clark of Pleasantville, Iowa, also by eighteen nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jordan was highly respected and had many friends.
