Stephen "Steve" John Jordan

Funeral services for Stephen John “Steve” Jordan, 63, were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Tom Strock of the First Baptist Church in Lusk, Wyoming officiating. Inurnment will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Steve Jordan was born on Thursday, April 14, 1955 in Lusk, Wyoming. He was the third child of Robert D. “Bob” and Eldeene Kathleen “Deene” (Preble) Jordan, of Harrison, Nebraska. He attended one room country schools K-8 and graduated from Sioux County High School in 1973. He married the love of his life, Vickie Anne Smith on December 30, 1973 at Saint Leo’s Catholic Church in Lusk, Wyoming.

They made their home first in Harrison and then later moved to Lusk. Their son, Neil, was born in Lusk on August 6, 1974. The young family moved to Glenrock, Wyoming and while they were living there their other son, Keith, was born in Douglas on June 12, 1979. In 1981, they moved to Douglas, where Steve continued to work in the mines. Both boys graduated from Douglas High School and Vickie volunteered her time at the Converse County Library while the boys were in school.

Steve retired from NARM (North Antelope Roche Mine) in January of 2011 and started his own business, Jordan Services. Vickie assisted him in the business serving as bookkeeper and sidekick as he traveled his route of porta potties. He was at home when he collapsed and was rushed to the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, where he succumbed to a heart attack on Monday, March 18, 2019.

Steve enjoyed working with his hands, a good game of cards, and tinkering with engines large and small. His shop was his home away from home even though it was conveniently located just steps away. He will be remembered for his ready laugh and strong work ethic.

He was survived by Vickie, his wife of 45 years; son, Keith, of Lincoln, Nebraska; three brothers, Dan (Crystal) Jordan of Harrison, Jim (Sherry) Jordan, and Pat Jordan both of Lusk; two sisters, Mary Jayne Jordan of Sundance, Wyoming and Carol Jordan of Aladdin, Wyoming; and grandchildren, Paige Jordan, Neil’s daughter, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kruiz Jordan and Holly Jordan both of of Lincoln, and Chase Abel of Douglas. ,

He was proceeded in death by his son, Neil Jordan, on June 3, 1995 and parents, Bob and Deene.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jim Lola, Randy Hobbs, Tom Winger, Bob Eversole, and Randy Cox.

A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
