Willie Alice Mitchell passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Community Hospital Torrington at the age of 85.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m., at North Hills Baptist Church in Lingle, Wyo. Memorial contributions may be directed to Goshen County Library. Coyler Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Alice was born Sept. 29, 1927, in Atoka, Okla. to William and Myrtle (Tadlock) Macom. In 1950, she married Thomas Mitchell of Torrington. The family moved to Lusk, Wyo. in 1963, where she worked as a dental assistant and a cook at the school cafeteria. Alice was a member of the Episcopal Church in Lusk. After moving back to Torrington in 1980, she worked at the county library, was a caregiver to the elderly and a Foster Grandparent at Torrington Learning Center.

She loved cooking, baking, reading, spending time with family, and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and horseracing. She adored all her grandchildren, thought they were the greatest kids alive, doing no wrong.

Alice is survived by her sons, Jack (Jean) Mitchell of Cheyenne; Tom (Maxine) Mitchell; and daughter, Georgia Crumby all of Torrington; sisters, Connie Childers of Fort Bragg, Calif.; Catherine Burrow of Benton, Ark.; Earlene Kilcrease of Kingsport, Tenn.; and Jane Powell of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Dan (Carrie) Mitchell, Skip Jensen, John (DeAnna) Mitchell, Bill (Kelly) Mitchell, Christa Souder, Chad Mitchell, and Mindy (Tory) Bugher; 12 great-grandchildren; special friend, John Ford of Torrington, the Cassel Family of Scottsbluff, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle; husband, Tom; daughter, Bobbie Jensen-Sauder; granddaughter, Carrie Ann Mitchell; brother, Virgil Macom; and sisters, Marie Putnam and Ruby Hedges.
