Services Held For Mrs. McElhinney
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary McElhinney, 93 years old, pioneer resident of Niobrara County, were held at 2:00 o'clock last Sunday afternoon, arrangements being in charge of the McColley Mortuary of Edgemont. Interment was made in the Edgemont Cemetery, beside the grave of her husband, who passed away eight years ago.
Mrs. McElhinney passed away last Wednesday, May 12, at the Manring home in Lusk, being 93 years of age at the time of her death--the oldest resident of this county, as far as is known.
Mary Mulkins was born in Indiana, on May 8, 1844. She was married in Indiana to George W. McElhinney, and with her family came west to Edgemont, S.D. in 1900.
The McElhinneys lived near Edgemont for 20 years, then moved to Niobrara County to live with her son, Frank, whose place is on the Cheyenne River, near the Weston County line. Mrs. McElhinney made her home there until being moved to the Manring home three years ago, where she spent her declining years.
Those lest to mourn her passing are her sons John of Edgement, Frank of Lusk, and one daughter, Mrs. Alice Hardy of Los Angeles, Calif.
