Mrs. Josephine Hargraves Dies at Torrington Home

Mrs. Josephine C. Hargraves, pioneer resident of Wyoming, passed away at her home in Torrington, October 13, at the age of 86 years.

Mrs. Hargraves was mentally alert, but for the past few years had been gradually declining in health, so that the end was not unexpected.

Mrs. Hargraves, with her husband, the late (Reuben) Calvert Hargraves, and their daughter, Leta, were closely associated with the early life of this vicinity. They resided on a ranch south of Lusk for a good many years and then moved to Cody, Wyo., where they built a fine home. Mr. and Mrs. Hargraves suffered a dreadful shock in the death of their only child, Leta, just as she reached young ladyhood. Then a number of years ago Mr. Hargraves passed away and some time later Mrs. Hargraves returned to Lusk to make her home with her niece, Mrs. Bonnita Vogel.

Four years ago with her brother, Albert D. Reed, she moved to Torrington, where she resided until the time of her death. She is survived by her brother, Henry L. Reed of Covina, Calif., her brother, Albert, having passed away last year and another brother, Fred Reed, of Billings, Mont., also having preceded her in death.

A short service was held in Torrington on last Thursday and the remains were taken to Omaha, Ne., and were accompanied by her nephew, Warren Reed, where she was buried beside her husband and daughter.
