Dale Chaffee, 12 Years Old, Succumbs As Result of Ruptured Appendix

Dale Crawford Chaffee, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Chaffee of Moore Springs, passed away at the Lusk Hospital, Friday, February 22, at 7:30 a.m., following an operation for a ruptured appendix.

He was in a serious condition upon his arrival at the hospital, and an operation was resorted to as a last hope to save his life.

Funeral services were held at the ranch home, 30 miles south of Lusk, on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. B.F. Farrar officiating.
Burial was made at the Hazelwood cemetery, 7 miles from the family home. Six of his school friends were pallbearers.

On February 16th, Dale underwent an operation for ruptured appendix, and had been in a critical condition since then.
Six days prior to that he had the measles.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Chaffee; sister, Helen, 16 years old, and brother Ivan, 9 years old.

Dale Chaffee was born at the home of his parents in the Moore springs community on January 22, 1923, and had spent all his life in that community. He was educated in the Moore Springs School and was a student of the seventh grade at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held at the family home, in charge of the Midwest Mortuary. Rev. Farrer preached a comforting sermon and Mrs. H.J. Templeton and George Gibson rending "Amid Circling Gloom" and Mrs. Templeton sang a solo, "The City Four Square."
