Mis Rena Shippen Passes Away Sunday

Miss Rena Shippen, 14-year-old daughter of Mrs. Daisy Shippen of Lost Springs, passed away at the Wheatland hospital on Sunday afternoon, June 9th at 4:00 o'clock. The cause of her death was due to complications following an operation for mastoids.

Miss Shippen was a graduate of the 8th grade at Lost Springs this spring. She had received her entire education in the schools of that city.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Daisy Shippen of Lost Springs, one sister, Ruth Swickhammer of Shawnee, and one brother, Russell of Lost Springs and other more distant relatives.

Funeral services were held in Douglas at the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Homer C. Crisman officiating. Burial was made at the Douglas cemetery . The pallbearers were all schoolmates of the deceased.

She was born July 12th, 1921, at their ranch four miles northeast of Lost Springs and had lived her entire life in that community.

Rena Rebecca Shippen was born on her father's ranch four miles northeast of Lost Springs, Wyo., on July 12th, 1921, and passed away at the Wheatland hospital on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock, June 9th, 1935 following an operation for mastoids. She has lived all her life near Lost Springs attending the school there, completing the 8th grade this year. Rena was a dear sweet little girl of loving disposition, making friends of all her acquaintances. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones but their loss is her gain. She was only another sweet flower, budded on earth to bloom in heaven. Rena leaves to mourn her loss her mother , Mrs. Daisy Shippen of Lost Springs, Wyo., one sister, Ruth Swickhammer of Shawnee, one brother, Russell Shippen of Lost Springs, and the following aunts and uncles: John Howard, Lillie Hitshen and Bill Bright of Lost springs and Elizabeth Howard of Casper, Wyo., Jessie Baughn of Manville, Wyo., Mame Rogers of Denver, Colo.; Ina Osborne and Albert Shippen of Midwest, Wyo., and a number of cousins. All the above relatives were in attendance at the funeral which was held in Douglas on Tuesday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. from the Methodist church. Rev. Homer C. Chrisman officiating. Music was furnished by the Douglas choir. The floral decorations were beautiful. The body was carried to its last resting place by schoolmate pallbearers: The two Misses Chambers, the Wanek sisters and two Davies girls, all of Lost Springs.

The pearly gates were opened wide
A gentle voice said "Come",
And angels from the other side
Welcomed our loved one home.
