Rev. Larry Peter Bartlett entered the kingdom of Heaven on Feb. 22, 2022 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1942, in the home of his parents LeRoy and Esther Pearl (Christensen) Bartlett near of the town of Riverview, Neb. Larry was the fourth son born to a family of six brothers and one sister. He married the love of his life, LeVina Jean (Jeannie) Mullenax on April 20, 1969, in Grand Island, Neb. While in Omaha, Larry and Jeannie adopted their first son, Kevin Troy. Later in Wyoming, they adopted their daughter, Brandie Joy.

Larry was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was in the Army First Infantry Division and was later medically discharged. He returned to his hometown Harvard, Neb., after serving his country with pride. He worked as a driver/site preparer for Teton Oil Exploration. In later life, he and his family moved to Glenrock, where he and Jeannie joined the First Southern Baptist Church. They became Christians and faithfully served the Lord. Eventually, Larry felt he was called into the ministry. He was ordained on Dec. 14, 1989, as a minister. He subsequently moved his family to Lusk, where he started his ministry at the Wyoming Women’s Center. Additionally, he founded the Niobrara Southern Baptist Church. He and Jeannie enjoyed over 25 years of ministry in both the church and prison. While residing in Lusk, Larry drove a school bus for the Niobrara County School District. His tenure as a bus driver lasted 20 years.

Larry enjoyed his time with his family, often making trips to Nebraska to visit various relatives. He also loved all the kids that rode on his bus. He was an avid fisherman and cultivated a robust garden every year. He would spend many days canning vegetables from his garden, which he shared with neighbors and family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with Kevin. He hosted many dinners and events at his home with his daughter and family. In his spare time, Larry helped with fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association. He also volunteered as an ambulance driver for the Lusk Ambulance Service for many years.

After the passing of his wife Jeannie on March 6, 2012, he found new companionship on April 9, 2016, with Ruth Barber from Sheridan. He gained three stepchildren and many more family relatives.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, Eugene, Marvin, and Russell Bartlett, his wife Jeannie, his second wife Ruth, and two children Larry Paul and Angela Crystal.
