E. L. Craig, Manager, Niobrara Electric Association, Dies from Heart Attack Saturday; Remains Taken to Denver

Elwin L. Craig, well-known manager of the Niobrara Electric Association was stricken with a heart attack that claimed his life early Saturday morning, October 16th. Mr. Craig was preparing to go to his office when the seizure occurred and he collapsed on the bathroom floor of his home, about six-thirty o'clock that morning.

Funeral services were held at two o'clock Monday afternoon, October 18th in the chapel of the Peet Funeral Home with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational Church officiating. A mixed quartet, Mrs. Carl Peterson, Mrs. Otha Holcomb, Rex Yocum and Don Unruh sang two selections, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Abdon DeCastro was the organist.

Attending the rites in groups were the directors of the Niobrara Electric association, and the office and field employees. Classmates of little Cathy Craig, also attended the services in a group.

Elwin L. Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence H. Craig, was born January 4th, 1909 in Boulder, Colo. It was here that he attended the public schools and grew into young manhood. He attended the University of Texas where he received his degree in engineering.

On August 27, 1938, he married Willa M. Henry. Two daughters were born to this union. The family made their home in Boulder until 1942 when they moved to Eureka, Utah, and a year latter moved to Ruth, Nevada where they resided for five years. In 1948, they returned to Boulder where they made their home until 1950. At that time they moved to Lusk, and Mr. Craig became the manager of the Niobrara Electric Association.

During the time he has been manager of the association, several subdivisions were built. On various occasions he journeyed to Washington, D. C., in behalf of the association. He had acquired a large number of admiring friends who will greatly miss him. His passing was a distinct shock to all.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Willa, two daughters Helen by a former marriage, and Cathy; two brothers, Harvey Craig of Boulder, Colo., Homer Craig of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Laurence Whitting of Washington, PA., Mrs. Edwin L. Smith of Boulder, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Carol Anne, the latter passing away May 19, 1953 at Lusk, Wyo.

On Tuesday morning, the remains were taken overland to Denver, Colo.

Elwin L. Craig Dies of Heart Attack Saturday

Elwin L. Craig, 45, manager of the Niobrara Electric Association, suffered a fatal heart attack at this home early Saturday morning. Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Otha Holcomb, Mrs. Carl Peterson, Rex Yocum and Don Unruh sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me," with Mrs. Abdon DeCastro at the organ. The body was taken to Denver.

He married Willa M. Henry on August 27, 1938. They made their home in Boulder and from there moved to Utah in 1942. In 1948 they again returned to Boulder and lived there until November 1950 when they moved to Lusk.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Helen by a former marriage, and Cathy. Another daughter, Carol, preceded him in death. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters: Harvey, Boulder; Homer, Austin, Tex.; Mrs. Lawrence Whiting, Washington, Pa., and Mrs. Edwin L. Smith, Boulder.
