Bob "Bobbie" Richard Desmond

Bob grew up in his hometown of McCook, and after graduating from McCook High School he enlisted in the Air Force. He was based in South Korea during the Korean War. When he arrived back in the States he moved from McCook to Denver, Colorado. He completed his barber schooling there and was hired at a barbershop in Loveland, Colorado. It was in Loveland where he met his future wife, Catherine Royer. Bob and Catherine were married June 3, 1956. From that union 3 children were born: Karen (Desmond) Hicks/Lusk, Wyoming, Phyllis (Desmond) Anderson/Loveland, Colorado, and Steve Desmond/Berthoud, Colorado. In the mid 1960’s, Bob opened his own shop….Bob’s Barber Shop. It was located in downtown Loveland, on Lincoln between 4th and 5th Streets. He barbered 56 years in total before retiring. Bob loved visiting with his customers. His shop was a place where there were plenty of stories shared and lots of laughter enjoyed by all.
His greatest desire was to share his faith and love for Jesus with others. He was faithful in his walk with God, and in raising his and Catherine’s children to know Him. Bob was faithful in his attendance, service to, and love for his and Catherine’s church in Loveland, the Mountain View Church of God (Holiness). Bob was a faithful, loving husband to Catherine, the best Dad to Karen, Phyllis, and Steve, an absolute loving and fun grandfather to their 10 grandchildren: Charla Hicks/Robertson, Sara Desmond, Seth Anderson, Justin Desmond, Tim Hicks, Josh Desmond, Wes Hicks, Hannah Bostrom, Suzanne Kimbrow, Tiffany Woods, and their 13 great-grandchildren.
