Donald Leslie Manning

Donald Leslie Manning, 86, passed away of natural causes on Friday, August 29, 2025 at his home in Lusk, Wyoming.

A graveside service will be Friday, September 12, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at the Douglas Park Cemetery with Pastor Matt Fox of the Unity Christian Fellowship officiating.

Don was born Sunday, May 14, 1939 in Casper, Wyoming to Carl Leslie and Genevieve P. (Heine) Manning. The oldest of four Manning boys, he was brought home to Glenrock. For many years he grew up ranching with his family outside of Douglas. The family later moved to Wheatland where they lived and worked on the farm west of town on Hightower Road.

Don graduated from Wheatland High School in 1957. He married Patricia Elma Sylvester the same year. They welcomed their daughter Kim Krystne on February 20, 1958 in Covina, California.

The family moved back to Wheatland and added their son Donald Dean on October 2, 1960. A motivated, young entrepreneur, Don opened Manning’s Northside Conoco (1208 Ninth Street) in the early 1960s. He was proud to offer the best service in town.

Don married Judy Lantz and adopted her daughter Brandi. Together, they opened and operated the Foxy Lady Beauty Salon (855 Oak Street).

Don moved to Bullhead City, Arizona for a time before moving to Lusk to help his brother, Warren Manning, on his ranch. He greatly enjoyed his friends and neighbors in Lusk and resided there until his death.

Don will be remembered as an outgoing, fun-loving guy. He had a passion for cars and liked the finer things in life.

He is survived by his brothers, Warren (Judy) Manning of Douglas, Wyoming and Harry (Veletia) Manning of Loveland, Colorado; daughter, Kim (Bill) McCutcheon of Fort Collins, Colorado; son, Don Manning of Joplin, Missouri; and stepdaughter, Brandi McCloud, of Wyoming; grandchildren, Sunni (Jake) Linse of Gillette, Wyoming, Shanda Manning of Joplin, Missouri, Tyler (Liz) Lauck of Wheatland, Wyoming, Kristny (Jose) Martinez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Cooper Lauck of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and eight great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Carl, on July 20, 1958; mother, Genevieve, on July 30, 1995; granddaughter, Shailynne; and brother, Roy Manning.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
