Sylvia A. Crisman

Sylvia A. Crisman, 89, of Rapid City, S. D., died Aug. 17, 1999, at Niobrara County Hospital. A graveside service was held Aug. 21 at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City, with Pastor Mick Bohn of Newcastle as officiant.

Sylvia A. Crisman was born to Clark and Nora Crooks on Nov. 19, 1909, in Lacoma, Iowa.

Sylvia married Claude Crisman on Feb. 25, 1929, in Kadoka, S. D. The couple lived and ranched in the Rapid City area, in Caputa, S. D. and in Nemo, S.D.

She ran the cafe at the Rapid City Livestock for several years. In 1973 they moved back to the Rapid Valley/Rapid City area.

She found her greatest enjoyment spending quality time with her grandsons and her many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her parents; seven brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Stensaas of Newcastle; her son Eddie Crisman and wife Linda of Rapid City, S. D.; five grandsons, Randy Stensaas of Newcastle, Dusty Crisman of Lusk, Rock Crisman of Box Elder, S. D., Cal Crisman and Jon Towler of Denver, Colo.; one granddaughter Tammy Hillard of Vermont; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, LaVaughn Place of Rapid City and Helen Russell of California.

A memorial has been established.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
