Mary Christine Mulberry was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Mulberry at Fort Atkinson, Iowa, on Nov. 2, 1889. She was one of several brothers and sisters and the last survivor.

When a young woman she married Franklin Pierce (Frank) Cross on April 10, 1905. One son, Howard Lemual, was born July 27, 1907.

The Cross family lived in South Dakota and later moved to the Whitman area where they lived a number of years. It was at this home that their son was fatally injured at the age of 26 while he was riding in preparation to participate in a rodeo. A few years later Mr. Cross died.

Mrs. Cross and her friend Bessie Case shared the home for some time. Later they moved to a farm east of Harrison where they lived a number of years. Nearly 20 years ago they came to Harrison, and in 1971 Bessie Case died. Mrs. Cross continued to live in her home in town and acquired a number of friends who visited and helped her.

She joined the Catholic Church several years ago and derived much satisfaction in attending church, but for several years has been unable to attend. She died October 27.
