Frances Davenport

Frances "Putty" Davenport, 91, of Lusk passed away on March 16, 2001, in Casper. Putty was born on November 29, 1909 in Ord, Neb. to Thomas and Melissa Hull Lane.

She married Elvin E. Davenport who passed away April of 1986. Putty worked as a head telephone operator in Nebraska before moving to Lusk in 1948. She and her husband co-owned and operated Budget Food Mart with Putty's sister and brother-in-law Georgia and Dave Woods.

Putty and Elvin became sole owners of the store in 1964 and operated it until 1971. She was an active participant at the Church of Christ for over 50 years. She loved singing and playing the piano. Her hobbies included gardening, collecting ceramics and elephant figurines. The highlight of Putty's life was the birth of her son Dick who survives her and lives in Glendo. She is also survived by two sisters Georgia Woods of Ogallala, Neb., and Virginia Dilliard of Sun City, Ariz; three nephews Gary Anderson of Ogallala, Neb., Franklin Lunney of Aurora, Colo., and Ray Pierson of Sutherland, Neb.

Visitation will be at Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home on Thursday, March 22, from 10-11 a.m. with the service following.

Memorials in Putty's name may be sent to the Church of Christ in care of Claudia Bartow, Lusk.
