Eleanor Davison dies Sept. 22
A funeral for Eleanor E. Davison, 57, of Mitchell, who died last Wednesday morning in a Scottsbluff hospital, was held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Federated Church of Mitchell with the Rev. Carlyle Smith officiating. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery.
Organist for the service was Mary Coleman. The church choir sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and Mrs. Carlyle Smith sang "Beyond the Sun Set." Escorts were Edward Eberspecher, Clayton Johnson, Fred Hamaker, Charles Evans Jr., Clyde E. Johnson, and Jess Locker.
She was born Nov. 27, 1918, at Harrison. She taught school in the Mitchell, Gering and Cheyenne, Wyo., school systems and was currently employed at the Gering Junior High School, a position she held since 1973.
She was a member of the Federated Churches of Mitchell, a charter member of the Sioux Chapter No. 319 Order of the Eastern Star of Harrison, a past worthy matron of Sunflower Chapter No. 214 O. E. S. of Mitchell, and a member of Women of the Moose.
Survivors include her son Stephen of Mitchell; daughter Kathryn of Bozeman, Mont.; three grandchildren; two brothers, George Corbin of Seattle, Wash., and Ben Corbin of Marsland; and sister, Kathryn Thorson of Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard.
Memorials have been established to the Federated Churches of Mitchell and the Intensive Care Unit of West Nebraska General Hospital.
