Clarence Edward Dunn Dies at Douglas, Wyoming on April 30

Clarence Edward Dunn was born May 19, 1901, on a ranch near Harrison, Neb., and died on April 30 at Michael Manor in Douglas, Wyo. where he had resided since December 1968.

He was the eldest son of Philip Dennis and Lenora Sherrill Dunn. He attended the Klondike rural school northwest of Harrison and came to Douglas for high school and stayed with his uncle and aunt, Joe and Anna Dunn. He worked after school at the Patterson-Dunn pool hall. In 1919 he moved with his parents to the Fort Fetterman ranch and was a Wyoming resident since that time.

He was fond of horses and rodeos, and a genuine bronc rider in his day. He prized the saddle he had won at a Gillette rodeo. He had ridden in Madison Square Garden when he went with the Lem Carmin show. He liked livestock and the wide country spaces. He was employed for several years with Morton's Incorporated, Hulbert Mathison of Gillette, Eddie Raeber, Saul and Zimmerman, and others. He was also a talented wood carver.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dona and Dewane Dawes of Riverton, Wyo., a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Ann Dunn of Anchorage, Alaska, one brother, Ralph Dunn, of Douglas, three sisters, Mary Bruner of Douglas, Edith Holden of Casper, Ruth Reber of Yucaipa, Calif., and five grandchildren, Susan Huckfeldt of Vancouver, Wash., Jim and Pat Dawes of Riverton, Lynn and Stacy Dunn of Anchorage.

Funeral service was held at St. James Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Thursday with Father Colm Woods of Lusk officiating.

St. James Parish Sisters furnished the music. Sister Barbara was organist and Sister Eloise was soloist. She sang "In the Garden," "Abide With Me," "Take Our Bread" and "Lead Kindly Light." Altar boys were Mac Payne and Philip Caldwell. Pallbearers included Bruce Reed, Norman Prager, Jim Dawes, Dean Cundall, Charles Bruner and Archie Bruner. Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery. Vernon and Thelma Dunn of Harrison attended the funeral.
