Dr. Paul J. Ellis Dies in Denver

Dr. Paul J. Ellis, 31, died November 23 at General Rose Hospital in Denver where he had been taken Sunday for treatment of a heart condition. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Warren, Ohio, his former home.

Dr. Ellis was born October 21, 1923 at Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Ellis. When a youth he moved with his parents to Warren and graduated from the local high school. He attended Ohio University but enlisted in the service while still in college.

He served 44 months in the South Pacific during World War II with the Six Division of the U.S. Marine Corps, during which he was on many dangerous missions.

Upon discharge from the service he went to Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio, where he received his A. B. degree and then went to dental school at Western Reserve University where he was graduated in June, 1952. At graduation, Dr. Ellis received a certificate of merit and a year's membership from the American Society of Dentistry for his outstanding achievement in the field of children's dentistry. Under this award he interned in children's dentistry for one year at Babies' and Children's Hospital of University Hospital in Cleveland.

Dr. and Mrs. Ellis arrived in Lusk early in September and he began his practice the latter part of October. He was aware that his heart condition would not permit a strenuous practice, but courageously set about the profession for which he had ardently prepared.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Peggy Ellis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Ellis; two sisters, Mrs. Richard G. Pfister of Lusk, and Mrs. Charles Devine of Norfolk, VA., and one brother, Robert of Warren.
