Edward S. Freeland

Heaven rejoiced as Edward S. Freeland joined in the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 29, 2006. He passed away at the Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Lusk with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. Interment will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Edward was born to Missionary parents Luther and Mary Freeland in an Indian village at Macos Oriente, Ecuador in South America on June 10, 1910.The gravestone birth date is June 2, 1910.

Following the death of his father, the family came to Kan., where an aunt and uncle and their three children took him and his siblings into their home.

He graduated from Ness City, Kansas High School and went to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill. His Bachelor of Arts degree was received at Harden Simmons University in Texas. Edward served his Lord as a minister of God's word for 40 years in the American Baptist Convention.

After marrying his wife Vera (now deceased), her and their two children, Nova Joyce and Dwight Jerome became a part of his ministry of churches in Colorado and Texas. Following his retirement, he served as an interim minister and while serving in Lusk he met his second wife Edna Moore.

Survivors include his wife Edna, of Lusk; the two children; Grandchildren, Joel and Tiffany Jeffries, Julie and Ed Schroeder; great granddaughter, Gabrielle; Step daughter, Helen Fulk; Step son, Homer Moore and wife Karol; Step grandson; Step great grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Edward's stepdaughter Helen Fulk for her loving care.

A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church in Lusk or of the donor's choice.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
