James Allsup Dies Saturday

James W. Allsup, 83, died at his home in Casper Saturday. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Lusk from the Peet Chapel, with burial in the Manville cemetery.

Pastor Richard Korns of the Community Alliance Church of Manville officiated. Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Robert Smith as they sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers were Lloyd Tschacher, Edwin Tschacher, Sven Johnson, Floyd Alexander, Alvin Alexander, and Hugh McLain. Honorary bearers were Ray Baughn, Zeb Ward, Orville Dryer, Chuck Vaughan, Art Joss, Everett Brooks, Bill Welch, and Enos Lee.

He was born October 25, 1883 at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Ralph W. and Lucy Andrews Allsup. He came to Wyoming in 1909 and was a barber in Manville.

He was married to Jennie Merle Baughn March 21, 1911 and they were the parents of three boys and two girls.

In 1942 he retired and lived for a time in Oregon. He returned to Manville in 1951 and lived there until July 1966, when he moved to Casper, where he was residing at the time of his death.

Survivors include his widow Jennie, Casper; three sons, Darrell, Brookings, Ore.; Claude, Central Point, Ore.; Wilbur, Grant's Past, Ore.; and two daughters, Mrs. Cleo Swisher and Mrs. Bette Alexander, both of Casper; A brother W. W. Allsup of Burlington, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

MR. AND MRS. J.W. ALLSUP HONORED AT 50TH ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE

Approximately 100 attended the open house March 19 honoring the 5th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Allsup at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Oscar Alexander in Manville.

The serving table was covered with a hand crocheted tablecloth made by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Claude Allsup, with a pink background. An archway of lighted baby roses, gold candles and a three tiered cake decorated with pink roses completed the decorations. The framed wedding certificate was displayed on the gift table.

The three sons of Mr. and Mrs. Allsup presided at the serving table the first hour, with granddaughters completing the serving. Claude Allsup and Mrs. Charles Ward served the cake, Darrell Allsup and Mrs. Gurney McLean poured coffee and Wilbur Allsup and Mrs. Frank Blagg the punch. Mrs. Wilbur Allsup presented the guest book and Mrs. Dallas Swisher was in charge of the gift table.

Mr. and Mrs. Allsup were married in Manville, March 21, 1911 at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Baughn, in the same house in which Mr. and Mrs. Alexander now live. They moved to Brookings, Ore., in 1942 returning to Manville in 1952.
