Louise Kindred

Former Lusk teacher Louise Mae Langford Kindred, 75, died at Dixie Medical Center in St. George, UT on Friday, Jan. 23, 1987.

She was born May 18, 1911 in Pittsburgh, KS to Bert and Myrtle Randall Langford. She married Ward Taylor Kindred Jan. 14, 1934 in Fort Collins, CO.

She was raised in Port Arthur, TX and Pueblo, CO. She attended Colorado State College at Fort Collins and much later received her bachelor's degree from Northern Colorado University at Greeley. She had lived in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona before settling in Lusk in 1951, where she taught junior high school and later sixth grade.

Mrs. Kindred and her family moved to Temple City, CA in 1961, where she continued her teaching career until her retirement in 1976. She then lived in San Juan Capistrano, CA before moving to St. George, UT in 1980.

Active in public life, she had been president of the Business and Professional Women's Organization and her local Teacher's Association, held offices in the Rebekah and Eastern Star Lodges, a Guardian of Job's Daughters, a Relife Society Visiting Teacher Supervisor, and active in a Family Home Living Group, the Vista Literary Club and the Institute of Continued Learning. She was a member of the LDS 16th Ward of St. George.

Services were Monday, Jan. 26, in the 16th Ward Chapel in St. George. Burial was in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.

She is survived by her husband, Ward of St. George; a son, Matthew of St. George; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Myra Lou) Campbell of Chicasha, OK and Mrs. Egon (Ruth Mae) Jahner of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
