Josephine M. Ladwig

Final rites were held for Josephine M. Ladwig, youthful automobile accident victim, at two o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Chapel of the Peet Funeral Home. Rev. F. C. Doctor, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, conducted the services, which were attended by the sophomore class of the Lusk High School.

During the services a mixed quartet composed of the Misses Juanita Cork and Barbara Windom, and Don Unruh and Lafe Culver Jr., sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "God Will Take of You."

Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery with Stanton Baker, Lyle Eddy, Bob Markle, Floyd Tschacher, Ralph and Kenny Wasserburger serving as casket bearers.

Josephine Mable Ladwig was born Feb. 3rd, 1938, at Manville, Wyoming to William Ladwig Sr. and Katherina Ladwig, nee Grant. Her youthful life was taken in an automobile accident on December 31st, 1953. She had attained the age of 15 years, 10 months, and 27 days.

Josephine attended Manville Grade School where she was a straight A student and very active in all extracurricular activities. When in Grade school, she was winner of the Niobrara County spelling contests for two years, and when in the seventh grade she was a contestant in the Wyoming-Colorado Rocky Mountain News Spelling Bee.

She was baptized into the Lutheran faith when an infant and was confirmed into the Lutheran church at the age of 14 years.

At the time of her death, she was a sophomore in the Lusk High School where she was a very good student, taking part in Band, Chorus, Pep Club and many other things of interest to her.

"Little Jo" with her always smiling face, beautiful hair and cheery voice was greatly loved by all who knew her.

She is survived and sadly missed by her father, William Ladwig Sr., seven sisters, Mrs. DeLyda Seifert, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Madeline Fagan, Laramie, Wyo., Mrs. Autumn Wilson, Aurora, Colo., Miss Olga Ladwig, Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Ruth Drewery, Riverton, Wyo., Miss Helen Ladwig, Denver, Colo., and Lucille of the family home, also four brothers, William Ladwig Jr., and Harold Ladwig , Keeline, Wyo., Richard Ladwig, Manville, Wyo., and James of the family home; eight uncles, nine aunts, four nieces, nine nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mrs. Katherina Ladwig in September 1948.

Funeral Services Held for Josephine Ladwig Saturday

Funeral services were held for Josephine Ladwig, 15-year-old daughter of William A. Ladwig of Manville, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 from the Peet Chapel in Lusk. She was killed in an auto accident three miles west of Lusk Dec. 30.

Rev. F. C. Doctor of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Lusk officiated at the services. Casket bearers were: Stan Baker, Lyle Eddy, Bob Markle, Floyd Tschache, Ralph Wasserburger, and Kenneth Wasserburger.

Audrey Bostrom served as organist and singer Don Unruh, Lage Culver, Jr., Juanita Cork, and Barara Windom sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "God Will Take Care of You."

She is also survived by four brothers: William, Jr. of Lusk, Harold of Keeline, Richard and James of Manville. Other survivors inlude eight uncles, nine aunts, nine nephews, and four nieces.

She was preceded in death by her mother in September of 1948.
