Edward Lang

Edward Lang, a Lusk resident since 1949 and resident of the rural community of Prairie Center many years prior to that, died at the Torrington hospital Monday, Oct.12. Memorial service is being held this Thursday afternoon, Oct. 15, at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk at 2:00.

Edward Lang was born November 18, 1903 at Brainard, Neb., the son of Anton and Barbara Lang. His family moved to Wyoming when Edward was 10 years old and homesteaded in what is now the Prairie Center Community. On July 29, 1925, he was married to Evalyn Allen. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Bud (Shirley) Owens of Lusk.

Through the years Edward Lang worked at various jobs such as trucking, farming, carpenter work, and the Kilmer Creamery in Lusk. He also had a Rawleigh route for 10 years before retiring in the early 70's.

Langs moved to Lusk in 1949 and have lived in this vicinity ever since. Mr. Lang was a member of the Congregational Church here.

The Rev. Frank Blish is officiating at the memorial service. Music is being provided by Phyllis Hahn, organist, and Joy Kaltenheuser, Ruth Thomas Blanche Isbell, and James Willson. The quartet will sing "How Great Thou Art," "Peace in The Valley," and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee."

Honorary bearers are all of the friends of Mr. Lang. Active bearers are Gary Shoults, Jim Shoults, Billy Allen, Ronald Podolak, Gerald Sturman, and Rex Shoults. Interment will be in the Lusk cemetery.

Memorial may be directed either to the Arthritis Foundation or the Lusk Senior Center.

Mr. Lang is survived by his wife, Evalyn and daughter Shirley both of Lusk; two grandchildren, Mrs. Lanette Evers of Spearfish, S.D., and Terry Owens of Albuquerque, N. M., 3 great-grandchildren, Christea, Garth, and Reeve Evers; three sisters, Mrs. Libbie Stuart, of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Lillian Seannell of San Matee, Calif., and Mrs. Marie Wiehman of Littleton, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
