Clifford Dale Leeling

Memorial services for Clifford Dale Leeling of Lusk were held Monday, Apr. 5 at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Mark Lohr officiated.

Music was provided by Rose Kremers, organist, and Rick Kilmer, soloist. Pallbearers were Everett Kilmer, Richard Pullen, Dick Herren, John Eberspecher, Paul Giecke and Leroy Schrader. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Leeling was born Dec. 16, 1925 to Lawrence and Thelma Leeling of Harrison. He died Wednesday, Apr. 2 at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital.

He attended grade school in rural Sioux County and high school in Harrison before joining the U. S. Marine Corps in 1944, serving for two years. On April 6, 1948, he married Vera Lantz in Lusk.

Leeling was employed by Ben Bertsch and Lacy Ford Garage prior to joining the N.E.A. in March 1953. He moved to Lusk in October 1975 and retired from N.E.A. in 1982 due to failing eyesight.

Clifford enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting and gardening. He was a member of the Harrison Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was active in the Harrison VFW Post 7970. He was also a member of Lusk Volunteer Fire Department and the Elks Lodge.

Leeling was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Wendell and Gordon. Survivors include his wife Vera of Lusk, his mothers, Thelma Leeling of Oxnard, CA, one daughter, Lois Jean Hanley of rural Sioux County, NE, three grandchildren, two brothers, Roy of Oxnard, CA and Donald of Cahokia, IL, one sister, June Martin of Oxnard, CA, and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family requests that memorials be sent to the Nurse's Scholarship Fund at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital.
