Harry E. McCluskey Laid At Rest in Lusk Cemetery; Concluding Rites and Burial Held Sunday June 19th

Concluding services were held for the late Harry E. McCluskey, well-known resident of Manville, at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, June 19th, from the chapel of the Peet Funeral Home with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Lusk, officiating. During the services, Miss Bessie Lumsden and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang two selections "Nearer My God to Thee," and "In the Garden," with Mrs. Judson P. Watson at the chapel organ.

Burial was made beside the remains of his wife, Day, in the family plot in the Lusk Cemetery where rites were conducted by Harmony Lodge No. 24 A&M, Masonic lodge, of Lusk. Casket bearers were Levern James, C. Art Whelan, Grady Criss, J.B. Griffith, Roy ZumBrunnen and John Lorenzen.

Harry E. McCluskey was born January 26th, 1881 in Thurman, Iowa a son of John E. and Ella (Jackson) McCluskey and departed this life on Friday, June 17, 1955 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk, Wyo. He had attained the age of 74 years, four months and 14 days.

As a youth he received his education in the schools of Thurman, Iowa and began working for the Thurman Telephone Company at the end of his high school years. About 1904, he went to work for the Bell Telephone Company and continued with them until a few years after his marriage to Miss Day Dull on December 25th, 1914 at Broken Bow, Nebr.

The couple then moved to a ranch north of Lusk where they engaged in farming and ranching until they moved to Manville where they had since made their home. They were the parents of one child that passed away in infancy November 25, 1921.

He was preceded in death by his wife, in 1951; his parents and one brother, Will. He is survived by one brother, Earl McCluskey of Thurman, Iowa, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Harry McCluskey Dies in Lusk Fri.; Services Held Sun.

Final rites were conducted from the Peet chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. for Harry E. McCluskey, Manville resident for some 20 years, who died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital Friday, June 17, following an illness of several weeks.

Rev. Jacob Nein, Pastor of the Congregational Church of Lusk, officiated at the services. Miss Bessie Lumsden and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang two duets, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "In the Garden." The chapel music and organ accompaniments were provided by Mrs. J.P. Watson.

Pallbearers were: C. Art Whelan, John Lorenzen, Graydon Criss, Roy ZumBrunnen, J.B. Griffith, and Levern James. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Harry E. McCluskey was born January 1, 1881 (as published) the son of John E. McCluskey and Ella Jackson McCluskey at Thurman, Iowa. While a resident of the Manville community his occupation was that of an electrician.

Only known survivor is a brother, E. R. McCluskey of Thurman, Iowa, who was in Lusk for the funeral. Harry McCluskey's wife, Day, preceded him in death.
