Funeral Is Being Held Wed. For David McCullough

Funeral service is being held this Wednesday afternoon for David R. McCullough, 84, who died at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital December 12.

The Rev. Fred Bolinger is officiating at the 2:00 p.m. service at the Peet Chapel. Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, organist, will accompany Russell Olmsted, soloist, as he sings, "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casket bearers are Chuck Vaughan, Clyde Blackmore, Richard Ladwig, Glenn Wilson, Dave Sheppard and James Krejci. Honorary pallbearer is Harry Tollman.

David McCullough was born July 2, 1887, in Perryville, Pa., to William and Margaret McCullough. He was the next oldest of eight children.

He was baptized and reared in the faith of the Evangelical Church.

When he was 17 the family moved near Randolph, Neb., and he furthered his education at Wayne State College.

In 1908 he married Anna Coulter of Randolph and taught for several years in schools in South Dakota and Nebraska. His interest then turned to oil drilling and he became drilling superintendent for the Carter Oil Company in Oklahoma. After his wife died in 1918 he spent several years in the oil industry in India traveling extensively. In later years he completed a Professional Course in Taxidermy, the occupation he pursued in Lusk for a number of years.

His wife, one son Harold and two sisters died previously. Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Edna Luhman, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Eva Kindle, Tucson, Ariz.; a son Gerald McCullough, Douglas; four sisters Mrs. Lenora Cordell, Lusk, Mrs. Edith Traphaghan, Cheyenne, Mrs. Effie Twite, San Mateo, Calif., Mrs. Bertha Borskie, Los Angeles; and one brother Leonard, Lusk; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial to the Cancer Society has been established. Mrs. L. T. Bonner, Lusk, is memorials chairman for the Society, and memorials may be mailed to her.
