Bruce V. Menzies

Services for Bruce V. Menzies, 72, were held at the Peet Mortuary, Monday, Jan. 14, at 2 pm.

The Reverends Bozart and Romprey officiated, followed by burial in the Lusk Cemetery.

He was born May 23, 1912 at Vanderbuilt, Mich., the son of Robert and Alice Menzies. Bruce graduated at Newberry, Mich., then attended Forestry College, spent five years with the Michigan Conservation Department as Game Warden and State Fire Warden.

May 23, 1937 he was united in marriage to Thelma St. John at Manistique, Mich. They moved to Louisiana where he worked for Schlumberger Well Servicing until his enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard and went through Motor Machinist School in Groton, Conn. Upon his discharge he transferred to Schlumberger in Wyoming. He later worked for Nolan Chevrolet of Casper for 13 years. He and his wife later purchased the Ranger Hotel in Douglas, and remained there until retiring to Lusk in 1967. They always shared a dream of returning on an extended vacation to the Michigan woods, lakes and rivers where they had spent many enjoyable times at the time of their marriage and early years together. Due to an extended illness they were prevented the fulfillment of this dream.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Lisa Reich.

Survivors include his wife Thelma, two daughters, Sandra Reich of Corpus Christi, Texas and Carol Guy of Rio Linda, Calif.; two sisters, Marian Hedberg of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Betty Thomas of Modesto, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were: Willie Wilcox, Bud Wilkison, Bill Helms, Bob Robinson, Ron Fowler and Jack Bond.

Also attending the funeral in addition to the many family and friends locally and from out of town were the former workmates from Nolan Chevrolet Garage of Casper.

Music was by Edna DeCastro, organist, Betty Oehlert and Mark Lohr sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" "My Cathederal" and "The Place Where I Worship."

Honorary pallbearers were all of his many friends.

Memorials may be made to the family. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery with Peet Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
